Peppermint Park / Wita Wirra (Park 18)

Wita wirra translates to peppermint place in Kaurna language, and this park includes the Osmond and Himeji Gardens.

The park has many historic garden beds, with the Himeji Gardens representing an important example of modern Japanese garden design.

The closing times of the Himeji hours are:

Daylight Savings

  • October: 7.30pm
  • November: 8pm
  • December: 8.30pm
  • January: 8.30pm
  • February: 8pm

March to end of Daylight Saving: 7.30pm

Excepting Sunday's which will always be at 7.30pm.

Non-daylight Saving

  • 5.30pm everyday.

Fun Fact

2 billion grains of sand in the Himeji Garden are raked each year.

Did You Know?

The Mayor of Himeji sent exotic fish for the official opening in 1985 – all were eaten by birds!
